Travel Theme: Old Fashioned

When I read this week’s theme – “old fashioned” – I immediately thought of my time-warp trip to Bangladesh (A Land of Tradition) late last year. So much of their daily life seems “old fashioned”.

This picture was one of my favourites from the trip. We’d been visiting the river slum in Mymensingh with the charity Symbiosis International. It was so great to see some of the work that this amazing organisation does in Bangladesh and to be invited into to people’s homes. As we were walking along the edge of the slum, I saw this gentleman making mud stoves. Perched there in his lungi (loincloth) on the edge of the embankment, he worked methodically as he formed and smoothed the pottery.
