A Word A Week Challenge – PLAY

PLAY.

“Let the children play. Stomp in puddles; climb trees; dig in the dirt; go on a bug hunt; make mud pies; roll down a hill; make a cubby” – from Let the Children Play.

We often take this kind of play for granted. However, take a step outside of our affluent “first world” existence and you are reminded that life can be simpler.

These boys from the slums of Mymensingh in northern Bangladesh love to play -but it’s not iPads or lego that entertains them. They make their own fun with a couple of old tyres and some sticks. My son and I loved watching them chase the tyres along the embankment. A simple game and lots of fun.
