A little detour from the Blue Mountains to central Sydney via the historic township of Camden.
It’s 60km southwest of Sydney and a little country “retreat” from the urban grind. Farmlands, historical buildings and plenty of cattle are what’s on offer in this part of New South Wales. I’ve made several stops in Camden over the years to visit a dear friend who lives here. The bush setting, the cute main street and the charm of country life make Camden a pleasant detour to or from the big smoke.
We took our children pony riding at the lovely Sydney Horse Riding Centre, about ten minutes drive from Camden. The riding school is adjacent to a beautiful homestead and winery and has pony and horse rides available for all levels – from tots right through to adults. Our two little ones did pony rides, but next time my eldest would be fine to try a one hour guided trail ride.
