A Word a Week Challenge – ARCH

A Word a Week Challenge: ARCH

My third round of Sue’s A Word A Week Challenge.

This week the word is ARCH.

As with my last two entries, I saw what the word for the week was and immediately knew which part of the globe I was headed to. This photo is more literal than my previous submissions – taken in Arches National Park, Utah. Years ago, my husband and I headed off from Las Vegas in a convertible and explored the national parks of Nevada, Arizona and Utah. We ended up in gorgeous, quirky Moab, located in the eastern corner of Utah. It was here we discovered the extraordinary beauty of Arches National Park.

Famous for, well, ARCHES, the 76000 acres of national park is filled with massive balancing rocks, soaring spires, pinnacles and over two thousand arches. There’s Double Arch, Landscape Arch, Tunnel Arch, Pinetree Arch, Double O Arch, Partition Arch, Navajo Arch and Delicate Arch, just to name a few. This place is home to the greatest number of natural arches in the world – you can’t help but be impressed.

So next time you’re planning a road trip from Vegas and you’re thinking of the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and Bryce Canyon, go a little further to Moab and make sure you take in an arch or three. You won’t be disappointed.

Safe Travels,
