… and finally Number 1…
To anyone who knows me or who follows this blog, it will come as no surprise that Japan is my Number 1 pick.
Japan is a unique and surprising experience. It’s ultra modern and hi-tech, but it is also steeped in tradition and culture. It’s quirky and yet refined. The urban sprawl of cities like Tokyo and Osaka still yield to areas of unexpected isolation and remoteness.
I encourage anyone travelling to Japan to try and incorporate this mix into their itinerary – one or two city stays combined with a journey to countryside. Mixing up the style of accommodation that you stay is a great way to get a complete experience as well. Try a hotel stay for a few nights and then a night or two in a ryokan or minshuku (Japanese Inns).
